BEYOND FABRIC: Crafting Textures for Carnival & Couture

Do you want to see your work featured on costumes on an international stage?

Join us for a 6-week creative journey led by renowned costume designer and artist Melissa Simon-Hartman. Running every Saturday from 1 November 2025, at the UK Centre of Carnival Arts, participants will learn high-end decorative techniques using sustainable practices and upcycled materials while contributing to spectacular costumes destined for Trinidad Carnival 2026. No experience necessary, just bring your creativity!

Individual Masterclasses
Attend single sessions to explore specific techniques and continue learning independently with a take-home practice pack.

Create intricate surface décor for professional wire-frame carnival costumes, learning innovative, couture-inspired techniques you can apply to your own creative practice or future projects.
